Voxtrot: An Indie-Pop Up-and-Comer Makes Good

Voxtrot.
With its likable and danceable indie-pop sound, the Austin band Voxtrot sounds like an American answer to Belle & Sebastian, or even The Smiths. Founded by singer/guitarist Ramesh Srivastava, the group came about its buzz quickly, becoming a staple of music blogs by the time it released its second EP, 2006's Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives.
By the end of last year, Voxtrot was a known quantity without having signed to a label or released a full-length CD. But that changed with the release of the band's self-titled debut last month. On it, Voxtrot crafts 11 catchy and memorable songs, buoyed by tasteful strings and piano.
