Ga. Man Seeks Reunion With Stolen Lucky Penny

text sizeAAA
October 16, 2009

Ralph Baker of Macon, Ga., says somebody broke into his apartment and stole his wallet. He doesn't care much about the cash in it. He wants the lucky penny he found the day he left to join the Navy in 1965. It went with him through Vietnam, Lebanon and the first Gulf War. He says he wants back the penny, which, like him, is "all washed up, burned out and tarnished."

STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep.

A Georgia man says somebody broke into his apartment and stole his wallet. Ralph Baker of Macon doesn't care much about that or the $60 in it. What really bothers him is the lucky penny in the wallet. He found it the day he left to join the Navy in 1965. It went with him through Vietnam, Lebanon and the First Gulf War. He says he wants back the penny, which like him is, quote, "all washed up, burned out and tarnished."
