Alabama Clean Up

NPR's Debbie Elliot reports that federal regulators have reached a deal to clean up widespread PCB contamination in Anniston, Ala., where Monsanto made the industrial chemical for nearly 40 years. Now, the firm's successors will pay more than $9 million in a settlement being filed in federal court today. But the companies still face a damages verdict in a civil lawsuit brought by Anniston residents who sued over property damage.
