Independent Bookstores

Karen Grigsby Bates speaks with two bookstore owners, Sherry McGee and Ed McCarter, about the importance of black bookstores to black readers, and the difficulties that independent booksellers face in a very competitive market. Sherry McGee owns the Apple Book Center in Detroit, Michigan and Ed McCarter owns Special Occasions bookstore in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
