RENEE MONTAGNE, host:
Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.
The Census Bureau doesn't just count people; it also counts pumpkins and places to trick-or-treat. On that list: Transylvania County, North Carolina; Tombstone, Arizona; and Skull Creek, Nebraska. As for the pumpkins, Illinois is the top producing state. Here in California we have the most chocolate factories, which no doubt helped the big bottom line. How much candy did we eat in America last year? Almost 24 pounds per person.
It's MORNING EDITION.
