Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell expressed confidence there will be no disruption to phone and Internet service despite WorldCom's bankruptcy and the plunging fortunes of many telecom companies. Powell told a Senate panel that despite the loss of 500,000 jobs and a $2-trillion market decline, the telecom industry has not collapsed and its long-term prospects are sound. NPR's Allison Aubrey reports.
