NPR's Julie Rovner reports that the Senate completed work on the prescription drug bill, restricting the legal loopholes drug companies use to guard their patents after they've expired. That'll make it easier for cheaper, non-brand-name drugs to be made. But the Senate failed to agree on how to provide prescription drug benefits to the elderly and disabled.
