Affordable Housing

NPR's Nancy Solomon reports on the trouble New Jersey is having keeping affordable housing part of the state-wide home development scheme. The state's Supreme Court has held that New Jersey's suburbs must have some affordable homes. But the ruling seems to lack teeth, since luxury homes seriously outnumber smaller house construction in suburban New Jersey. At the same time, big rents in New Jersey's cities are choking out poorer residents, and housing experts are at odds over how to resolve the housing problem.
