U.S. Expands Airbase in Qatar Although President Bush remains undecided on a strike against Iraq, the U.S. military is expanding a large airbase in the Middle East. Little is known about the base in Qatar, except that it is part of an already substantial military presence near Iraq. Adding one more reason to possibly launch a preemptive strike, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said yesterday he thinks Iraq is harboring members of al Qaeda. NPR's Steve Inskeep reports. (4:16)
