NPR's David D'Arcy reports on a British documentary about 19th century institutions in Ireland that imprisoned young unmarried women. It sparked the idea for a film called The Magdalene Sisters. Filmmaker Peter Mullan tells the story of how badly these women were treated by nuns who ran the asylums.
