A Senate committee today takes up again the controversy over the popular weight-loss and energy products made from the chemical Ephedra. The products have been attacked as unsafe after scores of reports of major side effects, including strokes, heart attacks and some deaths. NPR's Joe Neel examines the accumulating reports and the herbal industry's claims that its studies show the substance is safe when taken correctly.
