Bering Strait

NPR's Renee Montagne reports on the country band Bering Strait. These six, classically-trained musicians from outside Moscow are also well-practiced bluegrass and country musicians. Their love for the uniquely American sound led them to Nashville to pursue a recording career. Now they have their first CD out, Bering Strait. Their song, "Bearing Straight," is nominated for a Grammy in the Best Country Instrumental category. The accompanying documentary, The Ballad of Bering Strait, by filmmaker Nina Gilden Seavey makes its theater premier in New York tonight and in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., Friday.
