Director Lee Daniels' new film, Precious, adapted from the 1996 novel Push, centers on the life of an abused, overweight, pregnant teen. Beaten by her mother and sexually abused by her father, Precious struggles to survive. Threatened with expulsion in ninth grade, she is invited to enroll in an alternative school, where she finally learns to read and write and begins to realize the possibilities she knew existed for her.

Daniels co-produced the film, along with Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.
