November 5, 2009 - A lot of people came to the music of Gary Jules through his cover version of Tears for Fears' "Mad World," which appeared in the 2001 movie Donnie Darko. Since then, Jules has continued to make a name for himself without conventional radio airplay. His song "Falling Awake" was used in a popular episode of Grey's Anatomy, which brought the song into the Billboard Top 100 based on digital downloads alone. The song was originally an "optimistic letter" to his son, as Jules notes in his introduction.
"Witchita," "Devil Keeps Grinning" and "Falling Awake" originally appear on Jules' 2006 self-titled album, while "Horses" is included on a digital-only live EP that previews tracks from his next release.
Jules is joined by the Mountain Stage Band and vocalist Julie Adams, who brings the set to a close with her take on "Good Morning, Heartache," made popular by Billie Holiday.
