Jennifer Wilson

Soprano (Turandot)

A native of Fairfax, Va., Jennifer Wilson made her professional debut in the title role of Turandot in 2002, and is now climbing the ranks of the world's leading dramatic sopranos.

She has appeared as Brunnhilde in Wagner's Die Walküre at Finland's Savonlinna Festival, at the invitation of Placido Domingo, and is scheduled to play the role of Isolde in Wagner's Tristan and Isolde at the Montpellier Opera. Wilson is also scheduled to perform as Brunnhilde in Wagner's Ring Cycle in Florence, with conductor Zubin Mehta.

Wilson's concert career has included performances of Brahms' Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Mass in Time of War and Vivaldi's Gloria.

She made her debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Helmwige in Die Walküre, and has also performed as Brunnhilde in a Lyric Opera production of Wagner's Göetterdämmerung. After her Houston Grand Opera debut, in the title role of Turandot, the Houston Chronicle described Wilson as "a star in the making."

Vladimir Galouzine

Tenor (Calaf)

Vladimir Galouzine became a member of the renowned Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg at the personal invitation of conductor Valery Gergiev, and has since had an active career in the world's leading opera houses.

With the Mariinsky, Galouzine has performed leading dramatic tenor roles in much of the Russian repertory, including Hermann in Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades, Dimitri in Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov's Sadko, Vladimir in Borodin's Prince Igor and Andrey in Mussorgsky's Khovashchina. His Italian roles include the title roles in Verdi's Otello and Don Carlo, and Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca, as well as Calaf in Turandot.

In Europe, Galouzine has appeared at La Scala in Milan, the Berlin State Opera, the Vienna State Opera and the Bastille Opera in Paris. His North American appearances include leading roles at the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Houston Grand Opera.

Again collaborating with Valery Gergiev, Galouzine has recorded a number of Russian operas for the Philips label, including Sadko, Khovashchina and Boris Godunov, as well as Prokofiev's The Gambler and The Fiery Angel.
