*Julie Adams and the Mountain Stage Band featuring Laura Nadeau
November 17, 2009 - The members of the Nashville band The Coal Men play a melodic, guitar-driven and harmony-rich style of Americana-infused rock. Making their first appearance on Mountain Stage, lead singer Dave Coleman, bassist Jason Glen Hitchcock and drummer David Ray perform songs from their latest album, Kids With Songs. Coleman and "Hitch" have been friends since childhood.
Written on the heels of divorce, broken bones and death — and road-tested through the group's frequent touring — Kids With Songs has a surprisingly uplifting tone, evidence of the band's persistence and dedication to its craft. "Farther Find Me Now," in particular, was recently featured on an emotionally charged episode of the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch.
Because this show was recorded in Athens, Ohio, Julie Adams and the Mountain Stage band invited Athens-based singer Laura Nadeau to join them on the hypnotic "Castin' My Spell."
