November 20, 2009 - With roots in Washington, D.C., and Lexington, Ken., the rootsy rockers in These United States have a sound that draws from predecessors like Whiskeytown and The Flying Burrito Brothers while maintaining a modern lyrical sensibility. With singer-songwriter Jesse Elliott's gentle vocal delivery and the subtle nuances of Tom Hnatow's pedal steel, the group's sound blends garage-rock and folk. The band is filled out by Robby Cosenza on drums, Justin Craig on electric guitar and Colin Kellogg on bass.
These United States' members have released three albums since last year, including their recent Everything Touches Everything. "We Go Down to That Corner" appears on the 2008 album Crimes.
