REO Speedwagon Jumps On Game Bandwagon

Music bands are looking for new ways to make money in this era of plummeting CD sales. Our last word in business comes from the latest group to jump on the video game bandwagon. That would be REO Speedwagon. Today the classic rock band is releasing a downloadable video game to promote itself and a recent album.
The game involves an entertainment reporter tracking down the band's missing front man. It costs $8 to download and can be played for up to 10 hours. The New York Times points out how different this kind of advertising is from the stuff we're used to. Instead of consumers watching a TV commercial for 30 seconds, consumers now pay to watch what is essentially an ad for hours at a time.
