Watch The Interview From Backstage At Mountain Stage

Set List

  • "Hangman"
  • "Goodbye Story"
  • "Hypocrite"
  • "Human Cannonball"
  • "Trapped Under the Ice"
  • "Agua De Beber"*

*featuring Bob Thompson

While Cadillac Sky's instrumentation remains consistent with traditional bluegrass music, the group's sound has evolved into a melding of styles that mostly transcends all of them — from folk-rock to spacey jazz to hard-hitting string-band music.

Vocalist and mandolin player Bryan Simpson leads the band along with its newest member, David Mayfield, who also writes and plays guitar. Mayfield wrote "Human Cannonball" and co-wrote "Hangman" and "Trapped Under the Ice" with Simpson. The group is rounded out by Matt Menefee on banjo, Ross Holmes on fiddle and backing vocals, and Andy "The Panda" Moritz on bass.

The band's latest album, Letters in the Deep, was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. All the songs performed here, with the exception of "Goodbye Story," can be heard on that new album.

(The set closes with "Agua De Beber," performed on solo piano by Bob Thompson in honor of Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim.)

This is a repeat performance of Mountain Stage.
