In his second appearance on Mountain Stage, singer-songwriter Brett Dennen performs songs from his latest album, Hope for the Hopeless. Accompanied by Ron Johnson on bass and Randy Schwartz on drums, Dennen's melodious, finely crafted folk tunes maintain a smooth groove while tackling life's heaviest questions.

On record, the song "Heaven" features a guest performance by Natalie Merchant, one of many fans who have caught on to Dennen's infectious, socially conscious songs. "Ain't No Reason" appears on his breakthrough record, So Much More.

Dennen and his band will join John Butler for an Australian tour throughout January before heading to Dubai for a string of shows.

Mountain Stage host Larry Groce sits down for a brief interview with Dennen, Backstage at Mountain Stage.

Mountain Stage pianist Bob Thompson closes the set with Rhythm Kings pianist Albert Ammons' "Blues on My Mind."

This is a repeat performance of Mountain Stage.
