I'll See Your Susan Boyle And Raise You A Balloon Boy

On-Air Challenge

It's time for Will Shortz's annual name-in-the-news quiz.

Will gives the names of people that you almost certainly never heard of before 2009, but who became suddenly famous during the past 12 months.

This quiz was prepared with the help of two past year-end news quiz contestants, Kathy Baker and Tim Goodman.

Last Week's Challenge

Take the phrase "pray when." Double four of these letters. Using these letters plus the four singles, rearrange all 12 letters to spell a familiar phrase. What phrase is it?

ANSWER: "Happy New Year"

WINNER: Herb Harris of Boulder, Colo.

Next Week's Challenge

This challenge comes from Ed Pegg Jr., who runs MathPuzzle.com.
