Sharp declines in U.S. financial markets continued Friday in Asia and Europe. Asian stock markets were down, with Japan's Nikkei losing and Hong Kong's main index losing more than 2 percent. Losses were even heavier in South Korea and Taiwan. The main factor driving the losses appears to be fear that a credit squeeze in the U.S. might hurt the global economy.
