Cell Phones Save Lives
During a blackout that plunged an operating room in Argentina into darkness while surgeons were removing an appendix from a patient they rounded up all the cell phones in the waiting rooms and used them to light the operating table and complete the surgery.

Cell phones have saved lives, typically by allowing someone to call out for help. Now, doctors in Argentina have put cell phones to a new lifesaving use. It began with a blackout that plunged an operating room into darkness while surgeons were removing an appendix from a patient. So they rounded up all the cell phones in the waiting room and used them to light up the operating table while doctors completed the surgery.
