War Stories Told in Music
Art casts a different eye on the battlefield and sometimes creates a more lasting impression. Simon tells of composer Maurice Ravel, an ambulance driver near the front lines of World War I and who saw much agony. Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin is a set of short pieces, each dedicated to a friend who died in battle. (music)
