Bridge Collapses, Plunging Traffic into Mississippi

The Interstate 35 West bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Minneapolis buckled during evening rush hour Wednesday, sending dozens of cars and tons of concrete and twisted metal crashing into the water.

Multiple fatalities and injuries were reported.

The bridge, just northeast of Minneapolis, is 40 years old — and was undergoing repairs.
