As one half of the power-pop duo Tommy Tutone, Jim Keller has seen his share of success in the music world. After topping the charts with the hit song "867-5309/Jenny," Keller and bandmate Tommy Heath have enjoyed an extended stay in the pop-cultural lexicon; Tommy Tutone may be no more, but their most successful record endures as a cultural touchstone of the 1980s.

Set List

"Wonderful World"

"Giving It Up to Love"

"Sunshine in My Pocket"

With Sunshine in My Pocket — his first solo album in a decade — Jim Keller has returned to his songwriting roots; the record strays from the pop of his past with upbeat, rootsy folk that shimmers with optimism. On track after track, Keller captures beaming positivity with bouncy and soulfully deep vocals, keyboard flourishes and guitar strumming that's never overpowering. The addition of bright, brassy textures on the horns adds another layer of soul to the proceedings. In this session for World Cafe, Keller plays a selection of songs from Sunshine in My Pocket.
