Mexico's Carlos Slim Becomes 'World's Richest'
RENEE MONTAGNE, host:
Our last word in business today is Carlos Slim. He's the richest man in the world, according to Forbes. The magazine came out with its latest list of the world's billionaires, and Slim is king. With a net worth of about $53 billion, the Mexican telecommunications mogul beat out Bill Gates, who's number two. Warren Buffett comes next.
One newcomer to this super-wealthy club got there partly by selling superheroes. Isaac Perlmutter is CEO of Marvel Comics. Earlier this year, he sold his company to Disney and made nearly $1 billion for himself.
And that's the business news on MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Renee Montagne.
