Gorbachev Becomes New Face of Louis Vuitton

text sizeAAA
August 3, 2007

French luxury label Louis Vuitton unveils the new face of its advertisements: former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. But in the ads, Gorbachev is not sprawled out on velvet like some pouty vamp. He just sits in the back of a car, looking out the window, like a man without a country.

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Of course all those new millionaires have to do something with their cash. So our last word in business today is Louis Vuitton. Lovers of the French luxury label may be surprised by the new face of its ads; the rather dumpy former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev - not sprawled out on velvet like some pouty vamp. He sits in the back of car, gazing out the window like a man without a country.
