Iraq Marsh

NPR's Christopher Joyce reports the marshes of southern Iraq once supported a vibrant culture of "Marsh Arabs," and a thriving ecosystem. Then Saddam Hussein drained the wetlands to destroy a people whose loyalty he questioned. Now, scientists are wondering if the marshes and the culture of the Madan can be restored.
