In 2006, Jannis Noya Makrigiannis moved to the Greek island of Samos and began writing music. Upon his return to his home of Copenhagen, Denmark, various musicians and friends began to gravitate toward him, eventually resulting in the formation of Choir of Young Believers. Makrigiannis' ballads are slow and beautiful, melding traditional folk with anthemic indie-pop. Drawing on Nordic melodies, the band's debut, This Is For The White In Your Eyes, is reminiscent of '60s rock while still looking forward. The band plays the Gibson Guitar Showroom for KEXP at SXSW.
