Foreign Student Tracking System Criticized
U.S. immigration officials say 1.5 million foreign students could be registered by August under the new SEVIS, or student exchange and visitor program. But some say the computerized system, which will allow U.S. officials to track foreign students in more than 4,600 educational institutions, is filled with glitches that cause logjams and extra paperwork for schools.
