Menem Withdraws from Argentine Presidential Election

Carlos Menem, the Peronist former president of Argentina, drops out of the country's elections, ceding the presidency to his rival Nestor Kirchner. Many in the country suspect Menem bailed because polls suggested he might lose by a large percentage. NPR's Martin Kaste reports.
