This Week's Mix: From Buzzcocks To Bettye LaVette
The Brooklyn-based electro-rock duo Sleigh Bells specializes in sensory overload. The band's thrilling debut album, Treats, is a full-on assault, with explosive beats, startling guitar riffs and intense vocals from singer Alexis Krauss. On this edition of All Songs Considered, we've got the song "Tell 'Em" from Treats. Also on the show: one-man chillwave band Toro Y Moi, innocent but edgy music from Secret Cities, evocative instrumental sounds from Accordion, Icelandic neo-classical artist Olafur Arnalds, the British punk-pop group Buzzcocks and Chicago's Light Pollution. Also, soul singer Bettye LaVette covers some well-known rock classics.
