Final Hummer H3 Rolls Off Assembly Line
DAVID GREENE, host:
And our last word in business today is farewell to a vehicle that came to symbolize the years of excess and cheap gas. This week GM made its last civilian version of the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle - you know it as the Hummer. The final Hummer, an H3, rolled off an assembly line in Shreveport, Louisiana. GM tried to sell the brand to a Chinese company but that deal fell through, and so GM had to wind down the production.
The last vehicle was reportedly part of a special order for a big rental car company. So Hummer fans, if you're listening, if you can't buy a Hummer before those dealers sell out of the remaining models, you might still be able to rent one.
That wraps up the business news on MORNING EDITION, from NPR News. I'm David Greene.
