While Minus the Bear's roots are in intricate, guitar-tapped melodies and unexpected time changes, the band retooled its sound on Planet of Ice in 2007. It explored looser, more organic arrangements, resulting in polished, shrewdly arranged songs.

That vision has continued to grow with the release of Minus the Bear's latest album, the pop-based, radio-friendly Omni. In a session from World Cafe, the band performs its new prog-rock-leaning songs with softened edges.
