People who grew up with former NBA referee Tim Donaghy are trying to make sense of the betting scandal surrounding the Pennsylvania man. He's being investigated for betting on games.

In the suburbs of Philadelphia, where Donaghy grew up, the allegations are cause for disappointment — and for concern over how far the scandal might spread.

Donaghy graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield, Pa. — a school that has sent a number of alumni to officiate in the NBA.

Joel Rose reports from member station WHYY.
