In the heart of Washington, D.C., swarms of soccer fans gathered Saturday in front of outdoor TV screens to watch the U.S. play England in the World Cup opener.

RAZ: The sounds of soccer fans gathered around two outdoor screens at Dupont Circle here in Washington, D.C.

Mr. MAX ETON(ph): They do this stuff in other countries where they care about soccer. I'm so happy that they finally do this here in the U.S. I think it's really starting to catch up.
