Mexican Singer Sergio Vega Murdered

In Mexico over the weekend violence claimed the life of a popular singer. Sergio Vega - known as "El Shaka" - was killed by gunfire on Saturday. He had been on his way to perform in the state of Sinaloa in western Mexico.

Vega's death came just hours after the singer had denied rumors that he had been murdered. Police are blaming drug gangs for the singer's death. The singer frequently referenced Mexico's drug gangs in his lyrics.

Vega had taken greater precautions in his own security after the killing of fellow Mexican singer, Sergio Gomez.
