RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

Germans were hoping that Paul the Octopus' psychic powers had failed him when he predicted Germany would lose to Spain. The mystic mollusk has gotten famous for his accurate predictions of Germany's fortunes in the World Cup - so famous, Paul's most recent pick was shown live on TV.

With Spain now headed for the final and Germany out, the psychic Octopus is six for six, but to furious fans in Germany, Paul is now paella.

It's MORNING EDITION.
