A genuinely blue-collar punk band with firm New Jersey roots, The Gaslight Anthem have constantly been compared to Bruce Springsteen, along with the likes of The Clash and The Replacements. Now firmly entrenched as one of today's premier punk bands, The Gaslight Anthem are back with American Slang.
The album demonstrates that while singer Brian Fallon and company still love to rock, they aren't afraid to tone things down. With a good chunk of American Slang employing slower tempos, Fallon lets his battered vocals make up the difference. Clearly, the members of The Gaslight Anthem aren't afraid to grow up, and they do it with style and grace.
