Host Scott Simon pays tribute to NPR Senior News Analyst Daniel Schorr, who died Friday at the age of 93.

This is WEEKEND EDITION from NPR News. I'm Scott Simon.

Today, we're remembering our friend and colleague, Dan Schorr. Dan worked until almost his last breath, and died yesterday at a hospital in Washington, D.C., after a brief illness. He was 93.

Dan had a remarkable career even before he became NPR's senior news analyst a quarter-century ago. He was a tireless reporter who chronicled the Cold War, Watergate, uprisings, impeachments and the digital revolution. We'll remember Dan's life and work throughout this program.

But first and last, he was a newsman, and as Dan would insist, we begin with the news.
