The Alabama legislature approves a $1.2-billion tax package that would raise property and income taxes and eliminate some tax breaks that favor large property owners. The package, if approved by voters in a statewide referendum Sept. 9, would be the largest tax increase in state history. Hear NPR's Debbie Elliott.
