Piece Of Wood Mistaken For Crocodile

Even as Chicago was pulling alligators from its river this week, French beaches along the English Channel were closed when a crocodile was spotted. The fugitive croc, 12 feet long, was quickly dubbed Croc Monsieur after France's famous grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Ultimately, the French coast guard ascertained it was a case of crocodile tears, saying the supposed beast was actually a piece of floating wood.
