NPR's Scott Horsley reports that shelter costs, which include lodging and housing, rose in May and led to the largest increase in the nation's core price index in nine months. Michael Swanson, senior economist of Wells Fargo, says the Fed is concerned about the risk of deflation. He believes the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates at its policy meeting next week to prevent prices from falling.
