'Ebony' Magazine

For more than 58 years, Ebony magazine has showcased African-American celebrities and documented the political, social and cultural lives of black people. The magazine recently unveiled its new look. NPR's Tavis Smiley talks to Lerone Bennett Jr., Ebony's executive editor, about what readers can expect in the updated publication. Bennett is the author of Before the Mayflower: A History of Black America and Forced Into Glory: Abraham Lincoln's White Dream.
