Just like clockwork, each week piles of new CDs appear in Jim Blum's and my mailbox at Folk Alley. Our stream "Fresh Cuts" takes the best new discoveries — recently released music from contemporary and traditional singer-songwriters, bluegrass and Americana artists, Celtic and world musicians — and brings them together for a five-hour stream of the best new music. Each week, new updates are added, assuring that there will always be something to discover in "Fresh Cuts."

This week, we're featuring new music from the debut solo release by Frazey Ford (of The Be Good Tanyas), Justin Townes Earle, The Weepies, Peter Rowan's Bluegrass Band, Red Horse (Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky), The SteelDrivers, Sweden's Abalone Dots, The Indigo Girls' live CD; Mollie O'Brien and Rich Moore; up-and-comers Forest Sun and Andrew and Noah Van Norstrand; and much more.

The mix is no longer available here, but you can continue to keep up with the contemporary folk scene by visiting's "Fresh Cuts" website. It's worth a bookmark.
