Despite the growing number of reports tying the use of ephedra to illnesses and deaths, the federal government has yet to ban the herbal supplement. A powerful congressional lobby has helped protect ephedra manufacturers from efforts to ban or more strictly regulate its use. NPR's Snigdha Prakash reports.
