Husband and wife Steve Tannen and Deb Talan are otherwise known as the easy-listening duo The Weepies. The two met at a Cambridge folk club nearly a decade ago and began to play for small gatherings that have grown in size with ever performance.

Though it had been a while since the band's last release (the critically acclaimed Hideaway, released in 2008), The Weepies were kept in the spotlight when a slew of TV shows and commercials used their emotive tunes on air. Though they haven't actually toured since 2006, Tannen and Talan's fan base is bigger than ever.

The duo's latest album, Be My Thrill, is full of the acoustic hooks and hum-along harmonies that have become The Weepies' trademark. But it's also a bit bouncier, a bit brighter than previous releases. Listen to live takes of the album's tunes on this edition of World Cafe.
