Flashes seen at Mosul, in northwestern Iraq, indicate an aerial attack may be underway there. Eyewitnesses report anti-aircraft fire and explosions. Calm prevails in much of Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq for the time being. There are reports of military planes landing outside the largest Kurdish city in the region, Sulaymaniya.
