Fifty years ago this weekend, Cuban revolutionaries attempted — and failed — to incite a popular uprising against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista — an event that marked the start of the Cuban revolution. NPR's Tom Gjelten reports from Santiago, Cuba, on the island nation's festivities.
